CEREC Same Day Restorations at Carlisle Dentist

Restore your smile in one visit

CEREC is an advanced system for quickly restoring teeth using definitive natural coloured ceramic restorations, which are anti abrasive and plaque resistant.

In about an hour or so, teeth can be restored using restorations that resemble the composition of natural tooth structure without the need for impressions. CEREC 3D uses high quality ceramic materials and computer aided design technology. This revolutionary treatment ensures that a second appointment is not usually necessary.

This technology can be used to repair chipped and discoloured front teeth with porcelain crowns and veneers. Broken down molars can be restored with porcelain inlays and onlays, meaning silver metal fillings are not used as much nowadays. Book in for a consultation to enhance your smile with CEREC 3D.

What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is a computer-based technology developed by Sirona Dental Systems using CAD/CAM and 3D imaging software to design, prepare, construct and fit ceramic restorations.

What is CEREC used for?

Cerec is used to make inlays, onlays, veneers and crowns for patients with missing, chipped, damaged or stained teeth.

How is CEREC used?

Conventional crowns and bridges are made by taking putty moulds of your prepared teeth and sent to a dental technician. This technique is still very predictable and used for metal-bonded to ceramic crowns and bridges. CEREC crowns are metal free. Using CEREC technology, prepared teeth are dusted with reflective powder and scanned with a special camera. A 3D digital image is taken of the teeth and converted into a computer model, which is then used to build restorations for new teeth. The model of your teeth is transferred to a machine such as a CEREC MCXL machine, to create your new teeth from ceramic materials. The process is called milling and can take roughly 10 minutes to half hour depending on the nature of your treatment. An advanced bonding adhesive then attaches the restoration to your prepared tooth.

What are the benefits of CEREC?

The main advantage of CEREC is the time saved in preparing, fabricating and fitting a new tooth restoration. The advanced software and milling machine also allows for accurate fitting from a digital model of your tooth. The method by which the ceramic is milled, layered and pressed, means that the new tooth will be stronger and longer lasting. The ceramic material used to make new teeth can give a very natural appearance.
